When abroad and interacting with other people, we often puzzle over differences found in our cultures and local customs. Our “common sense” often strikes others as a “lack of sense.” This is true even between fellow Asians and many things occur that are beyond our imagination. In our world today, we are constantly challenged by encounters with different cultures, and there is always a struggle when trying to foster mutual understanding. Art that seems to breathe moves as it catches air currents unseen by the eye. The human heart is also hidden from sight, but we can “feel” its presence. Although it exists beyond our visual dimension, a “Meme,” the seed of culture, passes on to others. With these thoughts, I have chosen to name this creation of mine as it moves with the slight changes in the air, Cultural gene－Meme.
